ALUMNA DEL TALLER

1977–1979
I began my studies in Ceramics and Tapestry at the Tarragona Provincial Council School of Applied Arts, while also working as an assistant in the workshop of ceramist Ramón Carreté (a disciple of Llorens Artigas).
I completed internships in traditional ceramics workshops in Verdú, Esparreguera, and La Bisbal.
In 1979, I opened my first workshop, Taller Abat, in the city of Tarragona, dedicated to the creation and design of artistic ceramics and high-warp tapestries.
1980–1989
I expanded the workshop to include teaching activities in ceramics, tapestry, painting, and sculpture. I also created a permanent exhibition space to display my work.
I joined the team of weavers in the tapestry workshop of the painter Joan Miró, under the direction of the master Josep Royo. I led ceramics workshops for teacher training students, organized by the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona during the summer holidays.
For two years, I collaborated with the Department of Culture of the Reus City Council, teaching ceramics workshops at the Children's Christmas Park, where large ceramic murals were created.
I expanded my teaching activity with a bobbin lace workshop and a new visual arts program for children, which included classes in painting, ceramics, drawing, tapestry, and creative arts.
I taught the courses "Visca el color" and "La maleta pedagógica," organized by the Department of Culture of La Caixa, in various cities such as Tarragona, Valls, Tortosa, and Reus.
I opened a store specializing in hard-to-find products and materials, aimed at artisans and professionals in the applied arts.
I designed and taught several courses in ceramics, polychromy, and furniture restoration for craft professionals.
1990–1997
I moved to the rural area of Vallbona de les Monges, in Lleida, where I opened a new workshop dedicated to the production of cast ceramics. The goal was to supply white bisque ceramics to other workshops and schools, while maintaining the workshop, shop, and school in Tarragona.
I participated in the design and equipment of the new ceramics workshop at the Monastery of Vallbona de les Monges and created the original models and molds for pharmacy jars, plates, and various pieces inspired by historical ceramics and drawings from its medieval pharmacy, which would become part of the ceramic collections produced there.
I taught specialized courses for teachers and artisans at other centers in Tarragona, Teruel, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Lleida, and Madrid.
1998-2010
I founded the Associació Lleure Artístic (Artistic Learning Association) with the aim of promoting and fostering the teaching of crafts.
In the following years, the association organized and delivered workshops led by artisans trained at the Abat Workshop for the municipalities of Tarragona, Reus, and Montblanc; for cultural associations such as Dones Amunt (Cambrils), L’Afer de la Dona (Els Pallaresos), the Women's Associations of Botarell, Flix, Bonavista, and La Canonja, the Altafulla Women's Cultural Center, and the Aura Association; as well as for public and private educational institutions such as El Milagro School, César Augusto School, Pau Delclòs School, Sagrado Corazón School, the Dominican and Carmelite schools, and the Martí Franquès Secondary School. Courses were also offered to institutions such as La Caixa, ONCE, the Tarragona Educational Complex, and the Caixa Terrassa Cultural Foundation.
I expanded the school with new workshops for furniture restoration, pyrography, marquetry, marquetry, stained glass, gold leaf gilding, lacquering, and varnishing.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Taller Abat, I carried out an urban art intervention in the Tarragona City Hall square. This intervention consisted of the playful and festive participation of residents and artisans from Taller Abat in the creation of a large clay sculpture dedicated to the city's human tower tradition. I later donated the sculpture to the Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Tarragona, which now displays it permanently at its headquarters.
I collaborated for several years with the Department of Culture and Youth of Tarragona City Council, teaching ceramics workshops in the Children's Christmas Park.
Together with the team of teachers and artisans from Taller Abat, the school, and the Associació Lleure Artístic, I regularly attended craft, DIY, textile, and home decor fairs to ensure my continued professional development and ongoing training. Beginning in 2000, I embarked on a series of trips to expand my experience, knowledge, and bibliography in the field of traditional arts and crafts. Highlights include: pottery, tapestry weaving, and screen printing in Rajasthan, India; trompe-l'oeil and marbling workshops in Paris; training in gold leaf and French varnish in Venice; and visits to important collections and museums such as the Kurashiki Folk Craft Museum (Japan), the Frick Collection (New York), the Art and Design Galleries of the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Meissen porcelain museums, and the Dresden Museum of Fine Arts. These trips led to the creation of a specialized library for the school. I raised awareness about the school and the association through appearances on various television and radio programs, such as Catalunya Avui, Tarraco Visió, and Ràdio Tarragona. I participated in various fairs, including:
Eco-friendly fairs sponsored by the Mediterranean Association, where I presented homemade eco-friendly products, such as paints, tools, and natural materials for applied arts.
Craft and leisure fairs organized by the City Council, where I promoted the school's furniture restoration workshops and the courses offered by the Artistic Arts Association.
Trade fairs sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, where I worked to raise the profile of Taller Abat as a visual arts school.
2011–2021
I expanded Taller Abat by incorporating an interior design studio and forming a team of refurbishers and decorators. Until then, and in parallel with all its other activities, the ceramics workshop had produced a significant number of murals, commissions for commemorative pieces, original and reproduced bas-reliefs, plaques and street numbers for various municipalities, as well as a substantial production of cast white ceramics, artistic ceramics, paintings, and sculptures for exhibitions. This activity was interrupted in 2011 due to the opening of the interior design studio, which completely absorbed my time and forced me to temporarily abandon ceramic creation and production.
In 2021, I concluded my duties as an educator, communicator, and interior designer. I handed over the decoration studio and school to my collaborators, dissolved the association, and moved my residence and workplace to Barcelona, thus returning to the original vision of Taller Abat: to fully dedicate myself to the design and creation of artistic ceramics.
